Plates is a generative art project spanning 52 compositions, each tied to one of the Earth’s tectonic plates. From a single seed, AI-written code deposits, folds, fractures and erodes layers of colour, finishing each work with fine lines and marks.

Each composition follows its plate’s measured drift, with palettes drawn from the oceans, forests, deserts and ice above. Explore 30,000 years of changing landscapes through the timeline.

“Our lives occupy a brief interval in a planet’s history. We learn to measure time through memory, through generations, through the limits of a body. The Earth moves to a different rhythm.
What first drew me to blockchain was the possibility of making work on another timescale. Publishing onchain offers a different kind of continuity: a work that will outlive its maker, its institutions, and the circumstances of its creation.
Plates is addressed to that distant audience. A body of generative work drawn from the planet itself, each piece is bound to a tectonic plate whose movement becomes part of its unfolding. The hand that made it will disappear. The ground beneath it will keep moving.”
